Canon has announced the launch of the PowerShot G1 X Mark II and EOS 1200D, along with a number of other additions in an annual update.
The PowerShot G1 X Mark II is an evolution of the G1 X G-series camera and is at the very high end of compact cameras. It features a new design, 3-inch tilting LCD display, 1.5-inch type CMOS sensor and DIGIC 6 imaging processor that is said to offer a 56 per cent reduction in shooting lag times.
You will also find a 5x image stabilised zoom lens offering a 24-120mm focal range, along with a f/2.0 aperture at the wide angle and a f/3.9 max aperture at the far end of the zoom.
The PowerShot G1 X Mark II has dual lens control rings and comes with NFC and Wi-Fi.
In terms of the Canon EOS 1200D, you will find an evolvement on the EOS 1100D with a higher-resolution 18-megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor and a companion app for iOS and Android.
The app acts as a guide for newcomers to DSLR photography and will explain controls, different camera functions and guide you through composition and trouble shooting.
You’ll find a DIGIC 4 processor, a 9-point AF system and a 3-inch 460k-dot display.
Canon also announced the PowerShot SX700 HS, D30 and S200 cameras, as well as the Ixus 155, 150 and 140.
The Canon G1 X Mark II will be available from May 2014 for £799 and the Canon EOS 1200D will cost £349.99 for body only from March 2014.
