Canon launches "easy-to-use" EOS 1200D for first timers at Rs 30995 plus

Canon India has launched the EOS 1200D aimed at first-time DSLR buyers and touting easy-to-use presets and simple menus.


The camera will be available at a price of Rs 30,995 for the body only and at Rs 34,995 with a 18-55 IS II lens. With a combo of 18-55 IS II 55-250 IS II, the camera will sell for Rs 39,995.


This entry-level DSLR combines Canons powerful DIGIC 4 imaging processor and an 18-megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor that promises sharp details and background blur. For casual users, the camera will have creative filters and a Nikon-like feature guide explaining functions that can be previewed on the LCD before shooting the photo.


The EOS 1200D claims to have a highly-accurate 9-point Auto Focus (AF) system with center cross-type AF point enables accurate and rapid focusing on both horizontal and vertical planes. The DIGIC 4 processor has a faster shutter response lag and allows continuous shooting speed of up to 3 frames per second. The APS-C sensor packs 18 megapixels and supports an ISO range of 6,400, expandable to ISO 12,800.


The EOS 1200D captures Full HD movies at up to 30 fps and at ISO speeds of up to 6400.
