HTC One E8 Vs Sony Xperia C3: Selfie Cameras Not the Only Deciding Factor

We have talked a number of times about how the smartphone market in India is growing and evolving with time. And that growth is a constant one with a number of new devices now gracing the market. Hence, expect big things in the market before the year ends.


While the year has just reached midway, it did start off on an exciting note with events such as MWC 2014 paving a way for a number of smartphones that are set to arrive before the end of the year.

We have a host of Indian smartphone manufacturers in the market like Micromax and Karbonn that are trying hard to get into the act. However, for the time being, big name makers such as Samsung and Sony are making sure they hold on to the top of the charts.


Two devices now that are currently trying to make it big in the market are the newly released HTC One E8 and the Sony Xperia C3. Both the devices come with their own agenda on the cards with a lot of hope pinned on the devices by their respective makers.


So if we are to keep all others out of the contention and take both these handsets and pit them against each other in a comparison, who do you think will have the upper hand? We take closer look.

HTC One E8 Vs Sony Xperia C3: Operating System
There’s much to choose from in this regard since both the devices run on the Google-based Android operating system. In fact, both the devices offer Android’s latest KitKat OS out of the box.

The HTC One E8 sports a 5-inch Super LCD3 capacitive touch screen, while rendering 1080 x 1920 pixels resolution. Also, the device’s overall dimensions measure up to 146.4 x 70.7 x 9.9 mm. The device weighs in at 145 grams.


The Sony Xperia C3, comparatively, comes with a slightly greater 5.5-inch display with an IPS LCD capacitive touch screen, while also rendering 720 x 1280 pixels resolution. The device’s overall dimensions measure up to 156.2 x 78.7 x 7.6 mm.

The HTC One E8, in the camera department, offers a 13-megapixel primary camera, sporting a pixel resolution of 4128 x 3096 pixels, with autofocus and LED flash. The device also has a 5-megapixel front-facing shooter.


The Sony Xperia C3, on the other hand, sports a lesser 8-megapixel primary camera, sporting a pixel resolution of 3264 x 2448 pixels. The device also has a similar 5-megapixel front snapper, but with an added flash advantage for assisting in selfies even at night or at low light conditions.

While the HTC One E8 is equipped with a quad core 2.5 GHz Krait 400 processor, the Sony Xperia C3 comes equipped with a 1.2GHz quad core cortes A7 processor.

The HTC One E8 offers 2GB of RAM to users while offering the device in a 16GB internal memory variant. Also, there’s an external microSD slot for further memory expansion upto 128GB.


The Sony Xperia C3 smartphone, however, offers 1GB of RAM while offering the device in 8GB internal memory variant. Again, there’s the option to expand the device’s memory upto 32GB as a microSD slot is absent.

While the HTC One E8 juices up the device via a 2600 mAh battery, the Sony Xperia C3 comes fitted with a lesser yet potent 2500 mAh battery.

While the HTC One E8 is set to be available at a price tag of Rs. 34,900, the Sony Xperia C3 is yet to receive an official price tag for the device in India.

We are in a crucial juncture where both the devices come with their own special offerings. As you may have have already found out, both the devices put a lot of stress on the front facing snappers for both. But only the prices of the devices are what that actually separates one from the other. And we are yet to come across the price of the Xperia C3 as of now.


However, going by everything else that’s on offer, we have to say that the the new HTC One E8 takes the cake narrowly for this one. Sure the Xperia C3 is primarily a selfie phone with related selfie-based capabilities, but apart from that, everything else is just majorly is support of the One E8.
