Sony Working On New QX Camera With 30x Zoom [Rumor]

Sony DSC QX100 03 640x426Back in 2013, Sony unveiled the QX10 and the QX100. For those unfamiliar, those are lens attachments that one can use to attach to smartphones. For example if you thought that your smartphone’s camera wasn’t good enough, you could attach either the QX10 or QX100 for much better quality.

It is a novel idea, although we have to admit that we are curious as to how well the QX-series of lens cameras are doing? That being said, a source of Sony Alpha Rumors has recently tipped them off that Sony could be preparing a new QX camera. One of the key features of this particular model is the fact that it will come with a 30x zoom.

This is a huge increase over the QX10 and QX100, with the former having 10x optical zoom, while the latter only sport a 3.6x zoom, so for those who want a telephoto lens, then this rumored upcoming model could be of interest to you. Unfortunately apart from the 30x zoom rumor, the rest of the specs remain a mystery.

Now having tried out the QX lens cameras myself, I have to admit that while they are a good idea, they are pretty laggy which can be quite a put off to some users. Pairing the device with smartphones is also a hit and miss situation, with the lens camera failing to pair sometimes which can be pretty annoying. In any case take it with a grain of salt for now, but do check back with us at a later date to see if there are any additional details that can be had.
