The mobile market has been booming with new smart devices, each with its own unique selling point and each standing out in a significant way. Two of the prime smart devices competing and claiming to have the best camera available on a smart device are the Nokia Lumia 1020 and the Sony Xperia Z2. However, which of the two smartphones delivers a better overall mobile experience and which of the two can truly claim the throne of the best smartphone camera device?
Overall Performance
The Nokia Lumia 1020 has been released back in July, 2013 and offers a sleek design complimentary to the Lumia smartphone line. Under its casing the smartphone holds a powerful Dual-Core 1.5 GHz Krait processor that is backed up by a Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset, 2GB of RAM and an Adreno GPU. Even though the smart device offers a satisfactory mobile and multimedia experience with its AMOLED 4.5 inch touchscreen, it is old-fashioned compared to the Sony Xperia Z2.
The Sony Xperia Z2 has been released earlier this year, in April, 2014 and the difference of several months between the two smartphones is pretty noticeable. The Xperia Z2 manages to deliver a true HD picture quality with its 5.2 inch display and 1080×1920 pixel size, because of the high pixel density of its display, with it being about 424 ppi, while the one on the Nokia Lumia 1020 is only about 332 ppi.
Moreover the Sony Xperia Z2 features far better hardware specifications than the Nokia Lumia 1020 as well. Under its sleek and stylish casing the device harnesses the power of a Quad-Core 2.3 GHz Krait 400 processor, backed up by an Adreno 330 GPU, as much as 3GB of RAM and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset. However, both the Lumia 1080 and the Sony Xperia Z2 run the latest versions of their operating systems, Windows Phone 8 Black and Android 4.4.2 KitKat respectively.
The Camera
Even though there are some prime differences when it comes to the design, the operating system and the hardware, the Sony Xperia Z2 and the Nokia Lumia 1020 feature two of the best cameras featured on a smartphone on the mobile market to date.
The Nokia Lumia 1020 features a powerful 41 MP camera with an effective 38 MP backed up by a wide variety of features including optical image stabilization, dual capture panorama, PureView and more. One of the best features of the camera of the Lumia 1020 is its video recording capabilities, as the device is able to record videos at 1080p and 30FPS with video light and up to 4 times digital zoom without any loss of quality.
The Sony Xperia Z2, even though it was released several months later, features a 20.7 MP camera. Even though it doesn’t feature video recording lossless zoom, the smart device is able to capture unique and futuristic UltraHD videos at 2160p and 30FPS as well as 1080p at 60FPS and 720p at 120FPS with video stabilization capabilities and HDR.
Even though there is a huge difference in the MP size of the cameras on both devices, the quality of the photos and videos in both devices is quite astounding. Both of the smart devices are worth purchasing today.
