Knowing what the best DSLR camera in early 2014 is has been made much tougher since CES because there are several new models coming to the market. However, because most of them will be later this year we will look at some of the other models that we know are already on the market.
There are some very hot DSLRs at the moment and even though a few of them are getting on a bit, they can still manage to take the fight to some of the newer models.
If you are looking to upgrade from a compact camera to a DSLR, then you need to consider an entry-level model first, and even though the D3300 was recently announced, we would say go for the Nikon D3200 because it is already on the market and over $100 cheaper than when the D3300 gets released.
You can see in the first video below that the D3200 is a great all-rounder for your first DSLR and as such will produce some great images. The level of image quality for its price is truly astounding, although if you want more, then we would say wait a little while for the release of the Nikon D3300.
When it comes to the best mid-level DSLR you should consider the Canon EOS 70D and seeing as though this model is not even a year old, you know that it will come packed with some of the latest features, which this specs rundown will show.

Another type of DSLR that has been growing in popularity is the small DSLR. We saw several new models released last year, one of which was the Canon EOS 100D, and as such is still worth purchasing in the early part of 2014. We know that better models will be released later this year, but for now the 100D is one of, if not the best of the bunch.
The Canon 100D is a feat of fantastic engineering because of the ability to cram all that technology into a smaller body. Okay, so we know that these smaller body cameras cannot match most of those models with a larger body, but it’s a small price to pay for improved portability. The final type of DSLR that we would like to advise you to buy is the best all-round DSLR in terms of value for money. This would have to go to the Pentax K-30 because of it being tough and rugged, as well as having great image quality and a competitive price. It’s not all perfect though because the autofocus is a little slow, but this is a small price to pay for this one drawback. The final video is a video review of the Pentax K-30 DSLR.
