As we reported last week, Pentax DSLRs – including the new K-3 – are made in the Philippines which was struck by Typhoon Haiyan on 8 November.

The Ricoh-owned camera brand has a base in the Mactan Economic Processing zone, an industrial estate at Lapu-Lapu, Cebu.

A Ricoh Imaging UK spokesperson told Amateur Photographer today: ‘The Ricoh Imaging factory was not affected in any way and all employees are safe.’

The spokesperson added: ‘Short-term logistics are challenging.
