As previously reported, Nikon is rumored to be producing a retro-style DSLR, which appears in a new “Pure Photography” ad campaign, where a sneak peak of the camera may be seen.
There are now six teaser videos, where the first one features a photographer taking photos of the Scottish countryside. The camera was not seen until not seen, until the fifth teaser.
The newest teaser shows a low visible dial from the rear of the camera above the command dial, which is the PSAM selector. A shutter button is also on the on/off switch with a thread for the Nikon AR-3 remote like the FM2. There are also dials for ISO settings and exposure/white balance, as well as a little LCD display at the top panel of the camera.
Sina, a Chinese website revealed the video, however, it doesn’t show anything new from the DF, where Nikon Rumors reports that it is more like a recap of the other teasers.
Rumors state that it may be in the old F3 film camera style, featuring a full-frame FX sensor, EVF/OVF hybrid viewfinder, and will be one of some Nikon cameras to not have video capability. Nikon Rumors suggests that DF stands for “Digital Fusion.” A 50mm f/1.8G lens is also spotted in the video, which could support the speculations.
Nikon Rumors reports that the specs include a standard F-mount, pentaprism viewfinder, 16.2MP 36×23.9 full frame sensor, an AF system similar to the D610 with 39 points, an SD memory card, 2016-pixel RGB image sensor, 9-cell framing gid display, 3D color matrix metering II, 5.5fps for up to 100 shots and a native ISO range of 100-12,800 with ISO 50 and ISO 102,400 included.
It may also have a 3.2″ LCD scree, an Expeed 3 processor, an EN-EL14 battery, 143.5x110x66.5mm dimensions, weighing 765g.
Nikon also calls it a “hybrid” camera, but nobody really knows why yet. It will also have settings for 1:1, 3:2, and 16:9 aspect ratios. The announcement will take place on November 5th, on time for Le Salon De La Photo show in Paris November 7-11.
