Pentax is throwing everything but the kitchen sink into its latest high-end DSLR, the Pentax K-3.
With a 24-megapixel APS-C sensor, burst mode for 8.3 fps shooting, 3.2in screen and an updated 27-point autofocus system, the K-3 should impress even the most discerning shutterbug. But its most interesting feature is its wireless remote function.
In tandem with a Wi-Fi capable Pentax FLU SD card, photographers can remotely access the K-3 via a web browser. Pop the K-3 on a tripod, whip out your laptop (or any device with a web browser), and link them up, and you can release the camera shutter, shift the AF sensor point or turn your laptop’s screen into a gigantic live viewfinder via a web browser. The combination of remote snapping with a DSLR does open up a lot of interesting possibilites – but you may have second thoughts about leaving your camera unattended.
