Mirrorless Cameras? Sony Releases First Cameras With Full-Frame Sensors

Sony has released the first mirrorless interchangeable-lens cameras with full-frame sensors all packed into a single small body.


Competing with the DSLR cameras, Sony’s Alpha 7 and 7R pack many wonderful features with its interchangeable lens minus the bulk of a DSLR.


Photos taken with the Alpha 7/ 7 R will provide a similar quality to that of a DSLR.


The Sony A7 packs a full-frame 24 megapixel CMOS and the Sony 7R packs a 36 megapixel CMOS sensor.


The 7R is aimed at professionals, and the 7 is simply being marketed to anyone who wants DSLR quality photos.


The A7 line of mirrorless cameras will be compatible with the FE lens series. Both cameras will provide E-mout support for FE lens, E, and A-mount lenses with an adapter.

Both models come with a tilting LCD screen, manual exposure controls, 1/8000 second shutter speeds, and ISO equivalency up to 25,600.


The camera is capable of shooting amazing video with full HD video recording at 1080/60p and 24p with full manual exposure controls. It also has headphone jacks, audio-level controls and can output uncompressed video via HDMI cable.


It connects to wifi with NFC capability and will run Sony apps.


The Sony Alpha 7R will cost $2,300 for the body and the Alpha 7 will be available from $1600 (body only).
