Sony Honami i1 to feature 20MP camera and better sensor than Xperia Z

More information is now pouring in on the upcoming Sony Xperia i1 aka Honami.

A Bloomberg report today says “will feature imaging technology developed for its cameras and ultra-high definition TVs, according to two people familiar with the matter”. The company will be using X-Reality picture-enhancement chips that were developed for TVs and sensors for Cyber-shot cameras.

The recent leaks of a photo supposedly taken with the Sony Honami’s camera revealed an output resolution of 3936×5248. This indicated the smartphone could be sporting a 20 megapixel camera, reported Androidcommuniuty.

This will mean the upcoming phone will sport a very good camera, better than the Xperia Z. The last flagship from Sony the Xperia Z used a 13 megapixel camera with Exmor RS sensor for mobile. No doubt, 16 megapixel Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom will find it difficult to compete with the Sony phone.

Sony is planning to launch its new phone Sony Xperia i1 aka Honami on the September 4,before the iPhone 5S launch. This Sony phone is expected to be a 5 inch phone with razor-thin profile with a triluminos display and 1920 x 1080 pixel full HD display resolution. The phone is expected to be powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor and 2 GB of RAM.
