Local homeowners report stolen lawn tools, burglaries

At 7 p.m. Tuesday, a homeowner in the 700 block of Southlawn Drive, told the police that nearly $1,000 worth of his lawn equipment was stolen. After his garage door was broken into, a thief stole his Murray lawnmower, his Craftsman lawnmower, Echo blower and an Echo weedeater.


The same day at around 6:30 p.m. a homeowner on the 270 block of Windsor Avenue reported a Shindaiwa weedeater worth $100 was stolen.


At 10 a.m. Tuesday a black and orange weedeater worth $100 was stolen from a home on the 800 block of Southlawn Drive.


Vehicle break-ins were also reported Tuesday.


At 12:30 p.m. Tuesday a black 2000 Yukon SUV was broken into at 1323 Mulberry St. A purse worth $45 was stolen along with a driver’s license, credit cards and Social Security card.


At 9 a.m. Tuesday a Taurus .40 caliber firearm was stolen from a white 2004 Mercury Grand Marquis while at the home on the 400 block of Empire Terrace. The gun is reported to be worth $499.95.


At 8 a.m. the same day, a JVC radio and CD player was stolen from a red 2007 Cobalt while the vehicle was parked at a home on the 600 block of Byrne Drive.


Two local homes were also burglarized Tuesday.


On Tuesday, a thief broke through the door of a home on the 2200 block of Semmes Drive. A Dell computer worth $700, two flat-screen televisions worth $600 and a Samsung television worth $800 were stolen.


At 1 p.m. the same day, nearly $3,000 worth of Apple electronics and camera equipment was stolen from a home on the 2100 block of McKinley Drive. After a window was forced open, a thief stole two Macbook laptops, a Macbook Pro, an iPad, an iPod touch, a Nikon camera, a Pentax camera and BMX bikes.
