Well, it seems Sony has not given up on its A-mount DSLT cameras, and while all of other new cameras are quite capable and already popular the company now announced a new A-mount DSLT. This is camera is an upgrade to the Sony a77 and it is called the Sony a77 II.

Three years after releasing the Sony a77, the company has now released its new APS-C SLT in the market which comes with a new processor and much improved autofocus functions. The autofocus is so impressive that Sony has also released a picture of its AF sensor in the press kit.

Of course you can’t tell how well AF performs just by looking at the picture, so let us help you out. This sensor comes with 79 AF points, 15 of which are cross-type. It is paired with the translucent mirror technology which comes with Sony’s SLTs and it can capture at 12fps for up to 60 high resolution JPEGs with continuous autofocus.

The autofocus is also quite capable as it can spot your subject even at -2 EV, it features a new “Expanded Flexible Spot” system which will activate 8 spots around your chosen focus point if that point loses track of the subject and it also has the ability to dial in the subject tracking duration depending on how fast your subject is moving.
