Nowadays smartphone cameras are so good the point where we might not even need a compact digital camera. However when it comes to smartphone cameras, perhaps they might not be able to beat out DSLRs which are typically more powerful and have more control, which we guess is thanks to the manual controls and the ability to swap out lenses for different scenes.
However it seems that the folks at Nokia Power User have decided to put a DSLR up against the Nokia Lumia Icon where it will compete against the Canon EOS Rebel XTi in seeing which device is able to capture better photos. Now weâre not sure what kind of testing method was used or if everything was set to auto and photos were just snapped to see which camera captures better photos by default.
Interestingly enough it seems that the Lumia Icon did a much better job compared to the Canon EOS Rebel XTi. The Rebel XTiâs photos were overexposed and the temperature was a little cold, while the Lumia Icon managed to balance out the colors and contrast better with a slightly warmer tone, making it seem like a clear winner.
However like we said, weâre not sure what kind of testing method was used, so it is possible that with a couple of tweaks, the Rebel XTi should be able to capture photos just as good, if not better than the Lumia Icon. It should also be noted that the Rebel XTi isnât exactly a high-end DSLR, but itâs interesting to see how far smartphone cameras have come. What do you guys think?
