From striking city views to glorious images of rolling countryside, these stunning images show the very best of Britain’s landscapes.

The beautiful pictures were submitted to this year’s Landscape Photographer of the Year awards, won by Mirek Galagus whose dramatic picture of the cliffs of Beachy Head,

East Sussex, was chosen as the picture that summed up the spirit and landscape of Britain in 2013.

Other highlights included Adam Burton’s Loughrigg Tarn in the Lake District; serene and surrounded by misty autumnal countryside, while Jim Robertson has captured the rugged loch terrain of Slioch in Scotland at dawn. Rob Wolstenholme was Highly Commended for his atmospheric view of Buckholt Wood, Gloucestershire,

Away from the countryside, the cities have been captured magnificently. Neale Smith shot a vibrant Glasgow Central Station at night, while Warren Chrismas’s entry saw a vision of London’s St Paul’s cathedral and the surrounding city after dark.

A stunning coffee table book contains these and other beautiful full colour reprints of the winning and commended entries from the Landscape Photographer of the Year Awards 2013. A free exhibition of the entries is at the National Theatre in London until 9 February 2014.

Landscape Photographer of the Year: Collection 7 by AA Publishing is available for £25.

I agree that there should be more West country pictures (they do have one from Gloucestershire so the region is covered a bit though!)

Britain is so beautiful. I’ll never forget visiting Fort William and seeing Ben Nevis for the first time. I was only fourteen but it moved me to tears.

Our country is absolutely beautiful but things are changing for worse due to the unlimited, uncontrolled EU migration.
