Sony lens cameras for phones launched in India, price starts from Rs 12K

The lens cameras can be attached with the phones via a supplied smartphone attachment that claimed to fit several popular handsets.


Sony has formally announced the launch of its lens cameras in India, alongside the launch of its SmartWatch 2 and Xperia Z1 smartphone. The lens cameras, called Cyber shot DSC-QX100 and DSC-QX10, can be used with any Android or iOS smartphones. While the DSC-QX100 is priced at Rs 24,990, the DSC-QX10 costs Rs 12,990. Both the smartphone lens cameras will be available from Sony Centre and Xperias shops across India from today itself.


The lens cameras can be attached with the phones via a supplied smartphone attachment that claimed to fit several popular handsets. You can connect the phone with the lens cameras via WiFi or NFC. Infact if you have connected the phone and the Lens camera via WiFi or NFC, you can also click pictures through the later without even attaching the two.


“Use your smartphone’s large, bright screen as a real time viewfinder, fire the shutter, start/stop movie recordings, and adjust settings like shooting mode, zoom and Auto Focus area. Also use the phone’s screen to share the memories instantly via any of your ususal phone apps. You don’t’ even need to have the phone and camera attached. Place Cyber shot exactly where want it, and fire the shutter direct from your mobiles – it’s perfect for grabbing high angle shots or self-portraits,” explained Sony in a press release. The QX100 features the same image sensor/image processing solution that features on the Sony CyberShot RX100M II camera and offers 3.6x optical zoom. While on the QX10 gets a smaller image sensor but gets a bigger 10x optical zoom.
