Otter "addict" Brydon highly commended for wildlife photography

Brydon Thomason’s “otter awakening” sketch that was rarely commended.


An design of a Shetland otter by Brydon Thomason has been “highly commended” in this year’s British Wildlife Photography Awards (BWPA).


The picture, entitled ‘The Otter Awakening’, was taken in Feb 2012 by a internal photographer, a “self-confessed otter addict”.



The awards were determined in 2009 to recognize a talents of photographers practicing in a UK. They offer to prominence a “great resources and farrago of Britain’s  healthy story while also aiming to lift approval about British biodiversity, class and habitats”.


Brydon pronounced he was anxious to have perceived a commendation: “Entering competitions is something we usually started doing final year when we entered BWPA, so we was utterly gratified to accept approval this year – and generally gratified that it was with an otter image!”


Also rarely commended was another Shetland-based photographer, Richard Shucksmith, who was a altogether leader dual years ago. Brydon and Richard work together on many detailed projects and also combine in heading photography workshops.


Richard’s successful image, display “how most life a equine mussel bed can support in Shetland”, was taken while operative with a group of systematic divers from Heriot Watt University.


The divers, whose speed was led by Drs Bill Sanderson and Jo Porter, offering their congratulations: “Well finished Richard, and it’s good to see this critical medium get approval in celebrating a significance of British wildlife.”
