Adobe is hoping to tempt photographers on to Creative Cloud with a cheap, tailored subscription package.

The Photoshop Photography programme includes Photoshop CC, Lightroom, 20GB of online storage and access to Adobe’s Behance online portfolio service for £8.78 per month.

Given that a subscription to Photoshop CC alone costs £17.58 per month, while a full Creative Cloud subscription covering all of Adobe’s creative apps costs £46.88 per month, the new package constitutes a considerable saving.

There is a catch, however. To qualify for the deal, photographers must already own Photoshop CS3 or higher. Adobe was unable to tell us whether there will be a different price for new customers, or for how long the £8.78 price offer will last, at the time of publication.

An Adobe blog post announcing the new programme confusingly insists it is “not an introductory price,” but “the price for those of you who sign up by 31 December 2013″. Whether that means the price will increase after the turn of the year is anyone’s guess.

The new subscription package isn’t available yet: it will be available with the launch of Lightroom 5.2 in a couple of weeks’ time, according to Adobe.
